A glassblower for more than 30 years, Al creates pieces that are sculptural as well as functional. He enjoys meeting the challenges of timing and intuition required to manage fluid hot glass and prefers the “glass cowboy” tradition of design and production by a single maker.
Al worked at studios in Boulder, CO and on Whidbey Island, WA before returning to his native Minnesota. Currently, he is an artist and instructor at FOCI-Minnesota Center for Glass Arts in Minneapolis and is also the proprietor of Al’s Saloon in Center City MN.
